Problem
When the agent is installed on a domain controller, sometimes the LANDesk Management agent service gets disabled. This prevents agent status icons from displaying in the console, causing problems with other components such as remote control or software distribution.
Cause
In this case, the cause was a group policy that was being applied to the machine. The below policy was set to "Disabled" or "Not Defined". Most of the time "Not Defined" is fine as the device will manage that portion on its own, but if you run into this issue, set it to "Enabled" and Automatic.
Solution
On your domain controller, open gpmc.msc and Right Click>Edit the GPO your device is in.
Navigate to the following location:
Computer Configuration\Policies\Windows Settings\Security Settings\System Services
Locate the LANDesk Management Agent service and set to Automatic. Now, run gpedit /force on the machine and make sure the service is set to automatic and is started.
