How to Build a Self Contained Executable for Installing LANDesk Management Suite on a Legacy Operating Systems (Windows 9x, NT4, 2000 and Vista)
Description
To maintain compatibility with legacy operating systems, a special agent must be created from older code sources.
- As of LDMS 8.7 SP4, the default agent from the core server will no longer work on Windows 9x, and NT4.
- As of LDMS 9.0 SP3 the default agent from the core server will no longer work on Windows 2000, and Windows Vista.
A LANDesk agent compiled from the older LDMS code branches is what must be used to continue using LANDesk on these legacy Operating Systems. The Whitepaper attached to this article describes how to build/configure the "Legacy Agent".
NOTE: Copying the 9.5 vulscan.exe and vulscan.dll to the client machine may be required for vulscan to work. You may see "server is busy" error in vulscan logs.
